Boel Axelsson and Hedda Nilsson defend their master thesis How can development programs empower women’s entrepreneurship through social innovation? 11 January at 14.15 in room DC:467 at IKDC, Sölvegatan 26 in Lund.
Women in developing nations are facing many challenges in order to become entrepreneurs. Uganda in East Africa has among the highest youth unemployment in Africa and this in particular for women. Many organisations and development programs are trying to solve the challenges and for this, the use of social innovation has been seen as relevant. This however comes with a number of challenges and more research in the field is needed.
This study has therefore investigated which challenges that female entrepreneurs face in Uganda and how development programs can address these and help empower the women. This through the use of social innovation.
